How do the two fence types differ?

Welded mesh is commonly specified as panels with a defined wire pattern and panel geometry. Chain link is a woven mesh that is specified together with its supporting and tensioning arrangement. For either type, the fence is more than its infill. Compare posts, connections, mounting, gates and finish before making a purchasing decision.

Let the layout guide the comparison

Mark the fence line, corners, ground levels and gate positions on one drawing. For panel fencing, identify how the panel width works with post spacing and changes in height. For chain link, identify ends, corners and transitions that need their own supporting details. Ask for a component schedule based on the layout so that omitted posts or connections do not distort the comparison.

Compare finishes on measurable terms

Record the installation environment, coating process, color and required inspection criteria. Avoid treating descriptions such as galvanized or coated as a complete specification. Ask which components receive which treatment and how cut edges, joints and supplied hardware are addressed. A service-life or corrosion claim needs supporting conditions and evidence; a product category name is not enough.

Which is cheaper for a commercial boundary?

There is no reliable universal price order without matching dimensions and scope. Compare total supply cost using the same fence height, boundary length, supporting components, finish, gate schedule, packing and delivery terms. If installation is included, compare its scope separately. A panel-only or mesh-only price can omit a substantial part of the project.

What to send when the type is undecided

Provide the application, layout, approximate height, required appearance, gate openings, destination and any specified performance requirement. Ask for separate alternatives based on that common brief. Identify the differences in materials and components in each proposal, then confirm the chosen drawing and bill of materials before ordering. HJ Fence can discuss these product directions against your project requirements.

Buyer questions

Is welded mesh always more secure than chain link?

No universal rating follows from either name. Define the required performance and verify the proposed system and its supporting evidence.

Can both fence types be discussed in one inquiry?

Yes. Use a common layout, height, finish and gate schedule, and ask for the complete component scope of each alternative.
