What components belong in the inquiry?
| Item | Information to request |
|---|---|
| Panels | Panel height and width, frame details, mesh or infill, finish and quantity. |
| Bases | Base dimensions, material, connection to the panel and handling requirements. |
| Clamps or connectors | Compatible panel or frame dimensions, fixing details and quantity. |
| Bracing or anchoring | The arrangement required for the actual site, with locations and supporting information. |
| Gates | Pedestrian or vehicle use, clear openings, operation, support and hardware. |
| Handling | Pack sizes, component separation, unloading, storage and delivery destination. |
How should temporary fence panels be counted?
Divide the boundary into straight runs, then show corners and access openings separately. Record the effective installed panel width and the proposed connection details before estimating quantities. Gate openings, changes in level and special terminations may need different components. Use the estimate for planning, then reconcile the final quantities against the agreed layout and component schedule.
Check bases and clamps for compatibility
Ask for the base-to-panel and clamp-to-frame connection details. A similar appearance does not establish that components from different systems fit together. Confirm relevant dimensions and whether the quotation includes each component. If existing equipment will be reused, provide drawings or measurements and identify its condition so that compatibility can be discussed explicitly.
Include screening, signs and exposure in the brief
Tell the supplier whether mesh banners, privacy screening or signs will be attached, and describe the ground and site exposure. These additions can change wind loading and the support arrangement. A panel image or a generic component list cannot establish a suitable installation. Obtain a site-specific support and installation plan from the responsible project team before use.
Plan entrances and pedestrian routes
Mark pedestrian and vehicle openings before finalising the panel count. State clear widths, intended use and how gates will be operated and supported. Crowd control barriers are a separate product direction for directing pedestrian movement; they should not be substituted for a construction perimeter solely because both products are movable.
Compare quotations and delivery scope
Ask for line items for panels, bases, clamps, supports and gates, plus a clear list of exclusions. Specify the delivery destination, required schedule, unloading arrangements and whether components need to be packed by site or run. Confirm final quantities, inspection requirements and delivery terms in the quotation. Availability and lead time should be agreed for the actual order.
Buyer questions
Are bases and clamps always included with panels?
No. Ask the quotation to state each component and quantity explicitly, including any gates and support components.
Can I determine bracing from the panel size alone?
No. Ground conditions, site exposure, screening, layout and access openings also matter. Use a site-specific installation and support arrangement.
